Volume

Volume refers to the total number of shares, contracts, or units of an asset traded during a given period. High volume indicates strong market participation and typically confirms the strength of a price move. Low volume suggests weak conviction and can signal that a trend may not be sustainable. Volume is a core input in technical analysis — used alongside price action to validate breakouts, reversals, and trend continuation signals. While volume data is monitored as part of broader market awareness, One-Signal's signal methodology is based primarily on sentiment indicators — the VIX, put/call ratio, and investor sentiment surveys — which measure the emotional positioning of market participants more directly than price or volume data alone.
